Meet our team

Ben Batey RN, MPH

Ben Batey has been an advocate for health and wellness since before becoming a nurse in 2005. He currently is a leader in public health and wellness and holds a position at Bowling Green State University. Born and raised in Toledo, Ben has called northwest Ohio home his entire life. He received a Master of Public Health degree through a joint program between Bowling Green State University and the University of Toledo. As the former health commissioner for the Wood County Health Department, a position he held from 2014 to 2020, Ben has worked closely with the community for years. Before becoming the health commissioner, he held roles as epidemiologist, director of nursing, and CEO of the Wood County Community Health Center. After working as a home health nurse for four years, he went back to school in 2008 to obtain his Masters in Public Health. Ben also has hospital nursing experience in the ED, MedSurg, and Step-Down units. Ben is a life-long martial artist and operates the Bujinkan BGSU Falcon Dojo. He practices Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu and holds the rank of Shichidan (7th degree blackbelt). Ben also practices Reiki, Yoga, and has raced in many Spartan and Tough Mudder races over the years. He enjoys reading, traveling with his children and wife of 18 years, and snuggling his two rescue pups.

Allie Batey BSN, RN, RYT-200

Allie is our resident "dancing nurse."  Allie is the co-founder and former president of THE Modern Dance Company, Toledo’s first professional modern dance company. She is a practitioner of the art of nursing, dance, Reiki, yoga, herbalism, and holistic healing modalities . She graduated with her BSN from The University of Toledo in 2007 and began working the floor at the Medical Center on UToledo's campus shortly after. In the 11 years at UTMC she worked medsurg, step-down, ortho, hemonc, gyn-onc, GU and kidney transplant, with hospice to care for in-patients and families, and was in a lead nurse capacity for many years. It was the most difficult decision to leave UToledo, but to avoid her auto-immune disease flare-ups that the long hours and night shifts exaggerated, she became a public health nurse in 2019. In the 4 years of trying to obtain a less stressful nursing career, she stumbled into clinical instructing, public-school nursing, and ultimately became a supervisor for a covid-response division. She developed and lead a contact tracing division during the height of Covid which transitioned into directing a vaccine response team. Unfortunately when she caught Covid in 2021, she had a severe reaction that has lead her further down the path of pursing more of a holistic approach to her own health and wellness. She is a Reiki Master, Registered yoga teacher, and specializes in cannabis nursing. She is an active member of the American Holistic Nurses Association as well as Yoga Alliance. She is a certified kids yoga instructor, dancer and choreographer, former aerobics instructor, avid yogi, art and musical director, a budding herbalist and practices movement for wellness. She recently received her RYT-200 through Awakening Grace Yoga Teacher Training under the direction of Shauna Gilsdorf and the Himalayan Tradition. Allie enjoys being at Batey Creek daily to practice yoga, grounding, harvesting the abundant plants, foods, and medicines, hanging with her amazing children and husband, and loving on her two pandemic rescue puppies.

Jaimee Sabatino, BAE, Director of Marketing & Educational Support Advocate

Jaimee is our newest team member at Batey Creek. She is an advocate for mental health and wellness as well as sobriety. She is passionate about special education and has worked as a 504 and IEP coordinator in the private and public education sector since 2013. She recently tied the knot at Batey Creek in a beautiful microwedding ceremony that was officiated by Co-Founder, Ben. Jaimee graduated from the University of Toledo and she and her husband are avid Rocket fans. Jaimee enjoys the outdoors by hiking and cycling as often as she can. She is a animal lover and has 3 weiner dogs with her husband. She dreams one day of opening a dog rescue sanctuary and farm. You can follow her budding adventures on Insta @weens_beans_n_greens. When she's not caring for her animals, Jaimee enjoys cuddling up with her blankies, tending to her plant babies, and listening to podcasts.
