Allie is our resident "dancing nurse." Allie is the co-founder and former president of THE Modern Dance Company, Toledo’s first professional modern dance company. Dance is one of her passions in life as is nursing. She graduated with her BSN from The University of Toledo in 2007 and began working the floor at the Medical Center on UT's campus shortly after. In the 11 years at UTMC she worked medsurg, step-down, ortho, hemonc, gyn-onc, GU and kidney transplant, with hospice to care for in-patients and families, and was in a lead nurse capacity for many years. It was the most difficult decision to leave UToledo, but to avoid her auto-immune disease flare-ups that the long hours and night shifts exaggerated, she became a public health nurse in 2019. In the 4 years of trying to obtain a less stressful nursing career, she stumbled into clinical instructing, public-school nursing, and ultimately became a supervisor for a covid-response division. She developed and lead a contact tracing division during the height of Covid which transitioned into directing a vaccine response team. Unfortunately when she caught Covid in 2021, she had a severe reaction that lasted nearly a year and a half. That lead her further down the path of pursing more of a holistic approach to her own health and wellness. She is a Reiki Master and specializes in cannabis nursing. She is an active member of the American Holistic Nurses Association as well as the American Cannabis Nurses Association. She is a dancer and choreographer, former aerobics instructor, avid yogi, and loves movement for wellness. She enjoys being at Batey Creek daily to practice grounding, harvesting abundant wild foods, hanging with her amazing children and husband, and loving on her two pandemic rescue puppies.
